House price growth expectations hits 13 month low

The House Price Sentiment Index (HPSI) from Knight Frank and Markit Economics, which surveyed 1,500 households, found that 26.7 per cent of respondents felt that the value of their home had appreciated over the past month, while 5.5 per cent reported a decline. This gave the HPSI a reading of 60.6, the 18thconsecutive month that the reading has been above 50. Nevertheless, the reading was down on the 61.8 achieved in August and was the fourth consecutive month that households’ perceptions about house price growth have moderated. Any figure that is more than 50 indicates that prices are felt to be increasing, and the higher the figure the more significant the rise. Any figure below 50 suggests that prices are felt to be falling.
